Alex Lester joined Radio Tees in 1983 moving from Radio Aire in Leeds. Narrowly avoiding a change of name to "Red Lester" by Programme Director Donald Cline.

Alex has Presented a variety of shows which have included The Morning Show, The Blues Show and the Holiday Show, Trains and Boats and Planes.

He left Tees in to join the newly opened BBC Essex and was the first voice on air.

In 1987 Alex headed for the BBC Radio 2 presentation department.

 

 
                       
          
 
Since 1990, Alex has been presenting BBC Radio 2's 3am to 6am slot, known as "The Best Time Of the Day".
