Peter John Bergg
joined Radio Tees as a freelance presenter in 1976
presenting a new country music programme and a programme that
had previously been presented by the programme controller Bob
Hopton about High Fi. He then presented the Saturday and Sunday
Morning Breakfast shows, the kids programme
and the county music show. Peter joined the station full time
after 6 months and started to present the first through the
night 'grave yard shift' when Tees went 24 hours. He took over
presenting 'afternoon high' when Tony Gillham left and presented
this until he was promoted to Features Editor when Ian Fisher
left for Border television.
Peter worked in the background
producing all the educational and informational material that the
station made including 'The Key To Life, which was commended in the
radio awards of 1981. Peter continued to present the country music
programme even after changing career and leaving the station in 1986,
he finally did his last country programme for Tees in March 1986.
Since then he has remained in the North East pursuing a career in
computing. He made one nostalgic step back into radio presenting,
joining John Pierce at A1FM in the late 90's in Darlington as a
freelance presenter for 18 months.
